Supporting a Children's Care Provider with Bespoke Moving & Handling Training

Can you tell us a bit about your organisation and your role?
We are a residential and short break children’s home for children with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. We care for children aged 5-17. My role is the Registered Manager of the home.
What prompted you to look for training, and what challenges were you facing at the time?
We were preparing to look after a child with complex medical needs and physical disabilities including Moving and Handling needs. I needed to ensure that all staff were trained in M&H before the young person began his placement with us.

Natalie was especially helpful during the booking process and was very willing to answer my millions of questions and ensure that the training was suitable to our needs and covered everything. It was so helpful to be able to give a list of the equipment we use so that I was confident that the training ensured my staff were competent in the tasks asked of them.
How did you find the booking process and the training on the day?
Fabulous! The booking process worked well and I was confident that the training would cover everything I required. The whole team really enjoyed the training on the day. Jon made this entertaining but informative and really took the time to ensure that he understood the home, the staff team and the child we would be looking after to ensure that the training would then meet our needs. Jon seemed to really care about the home and ensuring that we would meet the child’s needs in their best interests. I asked lots of questions regarding risk assessments etc after the training and Jon was only too happy to offer some guidance and support which was appreciated.
What difference has the training made since, for your team or organisation?
Our staff could safely care for a very complex little boy allowing him to be discharged from a year long admission to hospital.
