Course overview

The Fire Safety Principles course allows learners to develop their basic fire safety awareness. It is particularly useful for employees who have a designated responsibility for workplace fire safety, for example as fire wardens or fire marshals, and provides the knowledge that will allow them to carry out duties relating to fire safety and emergency procedures

Who should attend?

This course is designed for employees who wish to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc.).

What will I learn?

On successful completion of the course, the learner will demonstrate that they are able to identify the causes of fire in the workplace and Fire hazards

• Fire control methods

• Legal duties and penalties

• Means of escape

• The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

• Fire risk assessments.

• Describe types, and demonstrate the use, of extinguishers

What will it cover?

This half day course consists of both theoretical and practical input, allowing the individual learner to develop their knowledge of fire safety matters and gain valuable practical firefighting skills.
